Recommendation
of Ina Heup for O.A.S.I.S.:
November 18,
2002
To Whom It May
Concern:
I am writing
this letter of recommendation at the request of Nancy Wiebe Mazurowski. I
have known Nancy for the past six years as singing colleague and dear
friend. I was first impressed by Nancy's lovely voice and impeccable
musicianship when I had the pleasure of sitting next to her in the 2nd
soprano section in the New Classic Singers, a professional chorus at College
of DuPage. I was further taken by her warmth and friendliness to me from the
first rehearsal we met. As time went on, I came to appreciate Nancy's work
ethic in her musical preparation, as well as her encouragement and support
of other singers in the group. As it happened, we were both chosen to sing a
duet from Handel's Israel in Egypt. As we worked together on style
and ornamentation, I discovered Nancy's openness to suggestions and
constructive criticism. Because of our growing friendship and our shared
desire to strive for musical excellence, the performance of that Handel duet
is one that I count among my most satisfying musical collaborations. That
event led us to plan and perform a duet recital which took place at New
England Congregational Church in Aurora, where Nancy has also been a
featured soloist in the Vivaldi Gloria, the Fauré Requiem, and
currently, as the Mother in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors.
The above
description of Nancy is my heartiest recommendation for the project
O.A.S.I.S. (Objective: an Artists' Seminar Inspiring Success). One of the
goals of the project is to ensure confidence in artists through personal
preparation. Nancy has demonstrated artistry time and again due in large
part to her disciplined work ethic. Another goal is to allow artists to
become open to growth. Nancy has enough belief in herself and trust in
others to allow musical and emotional growth to take place in her own
performing life. I am certain that she would pass along these qualities to
others in her caring, nurturing way.
I have every
confidence that Nancy Wiebe Mazurowski would truly inspire success through
her work with the O.A.S.I.S. project. I am sure that the participants'
experiences with Nancy would be as meaningful as mine have.
Sincerely,
Ina Heup,
Minister of Music, New England Congregational Church, Aurora, IL
Excerpts from other recommendations
"...Ms. Mazurowski is a
lovely young lady with a graceful and sweet demeanor. The voice is of
striking color, at once very silvery and young sounding but capable of depth
and flare...A brilliant pianist and musician, Nancy is terrifically
motivated and quick as well as reliable. I have seen her hold an audience
spell-bound..."
Ms. Winifred Faix Brown,

professional singer, voice instructor
"...Nancy Mazurowski
remains one of the finest and most capable actresses with whom I have worked
during my thirty-year career as a director of plays performed within the
context of the academic theater. Her virtues include intelligence, empathy,
extraordinary imagination, sef-discipline, and an innate sense of
professionalism. The specificity that she achieves in each of her portrayals
of given characters marks her as an actress of formidable power and talent.
Her Miss Prism, Nora, and Amanda Wingfield, for example, were three totally
different women; each of whom, however, emerged as a believable and
consistent personality as created by Ms. Mazurowski..."
